So how much will there be?
Will there be several versions?

I advice 3 versions:
a "knight" version that doesn't go above $30
a "baron" version that doesn't go above $100
a "prince" version that doesn't go above $250

I'm not rich, so i'll go for knight. I'm a fanboy for AA so i'll do anything to "donate" or help out the game as much as I can, but please don't make the price too high.

Are you seriously suggesting that someone should pay 250$ for this? Wow.

I hope they not go straight like Trove with 1000$ :P

Hopefully Trion doesn't go SoE status with this. I would like to see only ONE founder pack, no more than $20, that gives benefits similar to pre-ordering a box game, like maybe a silly hat.

I hope they not go straight like Trove with 1000$ :P

I honestly think the reason why Trove had so many outrageous donation levels is because that game was kickstarted by those donations. Hartsman talks a lot about how much he enjoys Kickstarter, and Trove seems small-scale enough for it to make sense. Just my theory, anyways.

Yeah sorry to disappoint all of you, but that's the basic and mainstream price for most founder's beta.

Blame Aura Kingdom ¬o( ̄- ̄メ)

Don't worry though, as long as they have one below $50 then we should be good.

$100?? $250??!! WFT???

This would be more reasonable:

"knight" version that doesn't go above $20
"baron" version that doesn't go above $30
"prince" version that doesn't go above $60

$250, daayum. That's a lot for a free-to-play game. It's not like you're getting a $60 box with tons of free months (granted they have a subscription). Therefore, there'd end up being some helllllz-OP items in that $250 set. Unless Lifetime Subscriber is a thing.

Knight for me. :_

I think there was one Saints Row 4 edition that cost $1,000,000. But I guess there will be different versions of "pre-orders" definitely. I don't think they are actually putting the price too high as the game itself is still going to be free to play.

I am sure they are expecting something like Trove. Pay $200+ get instant invite to Alpha or something...

03-21-2014, 06:26 PM
I'd imagine a few package variations, especially as some fans are willing to pay more just to gain access to beta. $250 is maybe a little far-fetched though.

Sweetdeal
03-21-2014, 06:28 PM
Just hope the Prices are moderate, not to low that everyone can buy in Beta, but not that high that only rich can buy into Beta.

Principe
03-21-2014, 06:31 PM
I don't want to look like a spoiled rich guy -- because I'm far from that -- but $20 for a beta will yield massive amounts of beta participants, too much.
Just don't go beyond $50 for the first common version.

aphelion
03-21-2014, 06:32 PM
Setting prices is always tricky. Just about anyone on the boards wants to get into beta and who doesn't want that perk to be in the founders package at a low price.

Looking at Trove, though, wow, it's an expensive alpha. Looks like Kickstarter rewards and prices.

Whoever goes into beta is hopeully looking to help get the game out quicker by finding bugs and not playing around, but if you pay $250 for access, I guess you can do whatever the heck you want :P

Did they mention when the preorders will be available?

Brutus
03-21-2014, 10:23 PM
30$ for beta package
60$ for alpha package
100$+ for the rich package with lots of candy (mounts, gliders, costume) .

Phaun

Hopefully something reasonable. I made the mistake of buying the $100 founder pack with EQNL and it was such a waste.

And they know how much people want to get in this game. It would look awful if they exploited that.

Ezenkrul
03-21-2014, 11:07 PM
Well, it would depend on what they include with the packages. Honestly, if they add stuff like instant beta access then it should cost quite a bit. If they add a package that has beta access and make it cheap, then how does this stop everyone from joining beta? It doesn't everyone will come in and make the exclusion mean nothing.
If you cannot afford, don't ask for it.
I'd be happy to spend $250.00 for the highest tier depending on what it offers. It is just money. Hell if I get Alpha access I'd spend more. ( even though I play on Russian servers, just seems better to play NA version and help with that. )

Skarm
03-21-2014, 11:13 PM
max i'd pay for a founders package would be around $75. that's $60 (price of a AAA game) + $15 (1 month WoW sub).

Most games go with 2 versions;

$49-$59 for standard pre-order
$79-$89 for deluxe/collector etc.

PCRenegade
03-21-2014, 11:17 PM
Those numbers actually seem pretty reasonable, not that I would be happy to shell that out. If the incentive/reward is good enough though, people will pay it. For instance your familiar w/ Path of Exile, there were packs for that game that went up to 12k with some insane perks like being able to design your own monster in the game.

I really have no idea if I'm going to buy one of those founder packages mentioned in the thread. I've never played a game from Trion or ever heard of the company until they declared western release for AA(ArcheAge.) However, If the price is reasonable and gives "early access" or useful "rare" gear, weapons, etc.. I will highly consider it.

Not so crazy, f2p has to get money somewhere. I remember NWO did a similar thing, with like 4 or 5 ranks and the top ones were about that much or higher. And yes, many spent that much to have those lil thingies more.

Americans... I hope, you aware the fact, that millions of europeans work for a month to earn $250 in Middle Europe... :D

Maybe Dresler's advice could work here too, but anything above $50 is ridiculous.

If I were to guess from other Founders Packs that have been coming up recently it'll be something more like this:

A "Naive" package at around 10$ (maybe 15)
A "Soldier" package at around 20$(maybe 25)
A "Knight" package at around 50$(maybe 60)
A "Prince" package at around 100$-250$
and finally
A "King" package at around 500$

The one from friday? I dont remember them saying that. Are you sure thats correct. I remember them saying if they could get someone to pay 2 million for an alpha they would. But i dont remember anything about 200 being mentioned. Unless its from a GDC stream over the last week.

I suppose it depends what they offer as packages. If its just alpha access and nothing else, I think the most i would pay is around $40. For alpha and some goodies, and an early access when the game goes live. Maybe closer to $50, 60 range. I still get bitter and twisted about paying into an alpha/beta. But if the perks you get with it tickle my fancy, and im interested enough in the game. Then im a sucker for it.

$200 for Alpha Entrance?

Well I'm out haha, I really want to try the Alpha to get the feel of the game before most people, but $200 is too much.
Maybe others will be able to afford it, nonetheless patience is virtue thus I will wait.

That or they can have a contest for Alpha Access, I shall fight for that Access!

Anyways like what others said, the founder's package has already been established in the gaming world, you can't change it.
I was even gonna put "$500" for King like someone mentioned but I didn't want to provoke them into doing it.

Credit! I want credit! xD
Gimme alpha access T_T

I think there's been some confusion here chaps. NONE, and I mean none, of the proposed prices for founders packages or the "$200 dollar access to alpha" are factual. They are just the community members proposals based on financial figures the believe to be reasonable and affordable. Trion will eventually make an announcement and let us know soon™.
