View Full Version : Minimize/alt-tabbing issue

so since the patch (even on PTS) when i try to tab our/minimize i will click on my browser or what ever is in the background and then archeage brings itself to front and so of course i mini/tab out. Only to have it then turn into an endless cycle of archeage trying to bring itself to front while also switching to desktop. settings are 1360x768 fullscreen.
[edit] and is there a way to fix my ui from resetting whenever i relog/dc(gets annoying after a while)

Exactly the same for me, when the game is on fullscreen, this problem happen sometimes, and sometimes not when I alt-tab.
For the UI too I have got this problem, but a friend playing the same settings don't have it, I think we are cursed or whatever ...

If we could have any answer I would be so happy !

You can reset your UI to default (http://forums.archeagegame.com/showthread.php?124751-How-to-reset-UI&p=1172425&viewfull=1#post1172425) with these steps.

I have reported this issue to the team previously, but I'd be curious to hear what screen resolution Lobidon and Souleater are using. I want to see if there may be some commonalities. Also, are any of you able to go into the in game settings and swap to windowed mode to see if the issue is resolved?

Alt tab issues for me too.
I run the game full screen. When I alt-tab it does not switch to my desktop. Sometimes it will alt-tab to my browser (if its open), but the game is still in the background. In some ways its almost behaving as though its in borderless window mode.
After Alt-tabbing, If I click the game in the upper right corner, sometimes it will go to the desktop, but seems random.

If I am successful and alt-tab (or click) back into the game the UI is all kinds of messed up.
The mouse pointer seems to be a few pixles off. The tip of the mouse cursor seems to be the center of the cursor and not at the point.
My toolbars and chat windows all get displaced.

I have tried resetting the UI (deleting "user" folder). I have also tried changing to windows mode and back.

Major bug!

I have another issue.
After alt-tabbing back to game, my attacking skills are unusable, it keeps saying "invalid target". After swapping to windowed mode, skills work fine again.
Resolution is 1366x768

My screen resolution is set to 1080 x 1920 I believe. When I switch to windows mode, yes the problem stops, but now I am in windows mode. When in Windows borderless mode, the problem persists. BTW, a number of other people in my guild are having the same issue.

I have/had the same problem. my resolution in Fullscreen-mode is 1280 x 800.

Since I switched to borderless windowed mode in Res 1440 x 900 its fine for me, BUT I only tried it twice in borderless windowed mode (maybe it will happen here again, just not so often as in fullscreen).

Problems since last update (level 55):
- the screen-problem in fullscreen mode
- the "new location authentification" every time I log into Glyph from the very same pc (sometimes I needed to relog every 5 minutes because of the screen-problem)

Problem since game-launch (I play since early October 2014):
- most times after the weekly maintance all my settings in my NA-characters are reset to default (never happened to my EU-char - same account/emailadresse). Strange thing is that it doesn't happen always after maintance.

Hi!
Same issue for me. Resolution is 1920 x 1080 in full Screen. Alt+Tab or minimize the game runs in an endless cycle of a flickering minimize/maximize game client. Only solution is to force closing the game by the taskmanager. It's since update that brings the borderless windowmode, i would use it, but it halves my framerate. :(
Window mode works, but every switch of screen mode resets all skillbars on randomize positions.
Resetting UI or delete temps and logs was no solution...
System is Win7 Ultimate 64bit, i74790k & Nvidia GTX Titan Black with actual driver.

I noticed when I have another program like irc chat running or another game it rarely cause this problem. But it almost always happens when I have only archeage running. However this problem is one of the worst for me. There was no problem before. Why did you bring us a problem with the patch? Shouldn't the patch fix old problems like the chat bug? Its there since I started to play.

I play fullscreen and when alt-tabbing it will sometimes flicker upon startup repeatedly since the update that added windowed fullscreen.

While the game is running alt-tab causes a few more issues. It will sometimes not tab into fullscreen mode completely leaving blurred text,borders being cut off, and certain actions unusable. A careful alt-tab will usually fix the issue but it happens extremely frequently so it is frustrating.

This seems to be the case for a large portion of the community as it constantly appears on Faction chat as an issue.

Its a bug, Fasti.
They implemented the fullscreen windowed mode and missed a refresh anywhere, so the programm is confusing Windows™ by "ey, we are still here".
Nothing we can do about it, no matter what config you use, just curious IF IT HAPPENS ON DX9 AS WELL ???

If im right, it also happens there, cuz its not a DirectX issue, just a - sry - pisspoor implementation of windowed fullscreen mode.
Ofcause not your fault, reporting the issue to the team is exacly the right thing to do.

i get this issue while launching the game sometimes. it only affects when i am in full screen mode and have since switched to window border less to fix the issue.

My screen Rez is 2560x1440.

I do notice though in border less mode when you tab out if you tab back in and press W to walk forward it brings up whisper...? and every time you close chat and go to walk again it brings up whisper every time! I don't go altering my Key binds so I know its not set to do this. To fix it i have to tab out and use the mouse to select the AA window and then i can resume normal key binds.

It is Very odd how this build has been plagued with issues. Ive been playing since Beta and Never to rarely had any issues. Now i am faced from BSOD'ing on the 5.2 update and forcing me to use the Steam version to play. which I never had to do before! I ended up formatting twice thanks to those BSOD's! and spending day's to update and re-install everything I had before. I can run any other game Fine Tera, Smite, Blade & Soul, PSO-2, My Steam Games, Everything I have been playing for years But as soon as glyph starts up and the AA game Launches BOOM! BSOD! and upon starting windows after each time it BSOD's upon User log in. No hardware changes, check sums and Memory tests come back clean. Like I said everything else runs fine but AA.

Countless other issues like Launch times now taking Forever to load, I use to be able to load up in 30sec's and be playing in 45sec's to now it takes 3mins to load and get in. Once the game is flashed to mem takes me my 30secs to reload if i get DC'd. couple more issues is the To the infinity Open/ Minimize of the window; UI not saving, ive seen people gather plants and not a single plant goes to inventory. 2hrs later they get the items mailed back. Mem Leak is back, Soo many issues and I really hope 1.7 fixes them all.

When u alt tab out and tab back to archeage you can't confirm jury. Even if you lick on confirm it will decline.

Game still crashes and still no reply of someone. Its not a good support here. Topic was started on 03-14-2015 and we still don't have any info.

When you start a program while archeage loads it gets bugged. If you minimize the probgram while archeage loads it doesn't get bugged. Theres something wrong.

Please give us at least a reply. Almost 3 weeks passed and still not fixed.

1920*1080 here, i have the same problem from time to time, when i launch the game and alt+tab to read something on the internet while waiting for the launch, but sometimes i click at the exact time it's finally launched on the internet page and here became the eternal loop of alt tab (that stop from time to time by using alt+ctrl+suppr)

It auto refuses every invite (jury, guild, party, raid) when you alt tab back to game. Please fix it.

Game still crashes and still no reply of someone. Its not a good support here. Topic was started on 03-14-2015 and we still don't have any info.

Three weeks? I've been dealing with this for almost 5 months now and it is just about to become a deal breaker for me. The only workaround I have found is: get your UI the way you want it, exit to character select, then exit game. Log back in, if the settings are the way you left them: Go to your documents>archeage>server>character name or whatever and make a copy of that character's file. Use this as a backup if your UI ever gets jacked up again. Just delete the old character's file and rename the copy you made (after u make another backup of course) back to your character's name.

GM's: I have deleted the archeage documents folder several times as suggested on multiple forums and this DOES NOT WORK. I have also deleted and re-installed glyph/archeage several times. I play full screen @ 1920x1090 resolution on Dx11. My PC is running an Intel i7-4790 @ 3.60GHZ with 16GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 760 Ti.

I can confirm this bug. Its really annyoing. Additionaly the screen goes black when I use DX9 and switch back to the game. There was no problem before. The problems always come with the updates and patches.

I use to have minor alt+tabbing issues when AA came out. I took about a 5 month break and now it's even worse. I alt+tab and it just keeps maximizing and minimizing itself. I'm running it on the same pc with the same everything, updated software as well, and the game settings have remained the same...it's just broken as fack. I really want to play again but it's almost unbearable.

I have reported this issue to the team previously, but I'd be curious to hear what screen resolution Lobidon and Souleater are using. I want to see if there may be some commonalities. Also, are any of you able to go into the in game settings and swap to windowed mode to see if the issue is resolved?
Is this why everything is sluggish? I tried alt tabbing while waiting. I have started experiencing this problem too.
For me the UI was already reset at the beginning.

My screen is 1366 x 768 but I try to put the game in windowed mode, because it always freaks out -.-;

click on game .. or maybe its still runing behind this window .. so you have to click on it and do alt + tab again
if you succeed the game window is now not being showed...
now click on A icon and open the game window , now youre in game but you may notice the resolution and page size is diffrent
so do it 1 last time : alt +tab
now you go to desktop , click on game icon again
and its fit like before np

so it takes like 3 or 4 times alt + tab with clicking to fix it
i do it a lot :)

Yes, I've seen it. I've also seen it in 3rd person mode. I guess I'll have to take a video of the bug and post it to YouTube. I'll put the link here when it is done.

I found that if I ran GameBooster (which closes some non-necessary services) to free up resources, it happened more often. But if I run the game in windowed mode, I don't have to alt-tab to get to another program/window...I just diminish the game.

This is a different bug. If I run archeage and alt tab it causes the endless cycle till it crashes. There is no way to alt tab out and get back like you said.

so since the patch (even on PTS) when i try to tab our/minimize i will click on my browser or what ever is in the background and then archeage brings itself to front and so of course i mini/tab out. Only to have it then turn into an endless cycle of archeage trying to bring itself to front while also switching to desktop. settings are 1360x768 fullscreen.
[edit] and is there a way to fix my ui from resetting whenever i relog/dc(gets annoying after a while)
Once you alt tab out of game it will crash.

ah yes that one . it happened few times for me , most of the times it crashes or i end it
but it only happens when the game is LOADING and i alt+tab

if you want to NOT close the game and fix it this is your solution :
alt+ctrl+delete
then : start task manager
this way it forces you to stay away and cycle will stop , then you click on the game , alt + tab again . and click again
it always solves like this .

I've also started getting a fun new bug that seems to tab out of ArcheAge in the middle of game play, or sometimes just gives me a black screen with the AA mouse arrow. This lasts for about 60 seconds and then the game recovers. It happened 5 times during a library raid last night. No idea what's causing it.

Edit: It ended up happening about 12 times and seemed to be triggered by large numbers of people on my screen. It made the game completely unplayable and got me killed a couple times. Always nice to lose a fat chunk of XP to some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like this.

either my internet has gone to hell after the patch . or tons of people have joined after the patch . or trion did something with connectivity
because i used to play AA with no problems with a 512kb internet but now i have 15mg and i still lag and get dc every few seconds
i cant do halcy or mist or abyss or raids for lib
its so horrible

but my friend i think your problem about going dark is related to your graphic or ram.

and for your problem just read my prev post , it will help solve the alt tab problem
