As I mentioned in the other thread (http://forums.archeagegame.com/showthread.php?1810-WARNING!!!-This-is-a-must-read-thread-for-everyone-thinking-about-alpha), if you let your excitement get better of you, I recommend malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/) for an efficient bug remover, and then after removing be sure to alter your passwords.

Thanks for the warning. When you're hoping for an invite, it would be easy to get excited by an email like this. Having been in two previous Trion alpha tests, an invite to the Archeage one wouldn't be unexpected and I might easily have fallen for it.

like the poster above me stated malwarebytes will work.

I would recommend running rkill first, as this will stop any programs running from command prompt (cmd)

hey scapes man, from an IT standpoint (my major in college) I'd like to point out that i've been using google mail since google first invited me into it's alpha only - over the years i've seen it improve so much and honestly i can't stand to use anything else today...

I just want people to know if you use google mail, and you see this http://puu.sh/8380u.jpg

it means that google has flagged the sender for suspicious activity, and more than likely the company IT support are already in the process of locking the account temporarily.

more often than naught tho users tend to ignore all the safety features google has built into its service over the years, and it's hard to explain to people from an IT standpoint why it's easier to reformat their brand new computer when they install nasty programs like rootkits in this manner.

Highly recommend people heed those cautionary warnings from google, and listen to scapes! don't be a victim!

So I'm curious...how are they all getting your emails? Are you making it public here on the forums or did Trion leak a bunch of account information that shouldn't be happening...

04-10-2014, 01:35 PM
Okay this looks like a really cheap spam :D Always remember every big gaming company has its own email servers, so there is no gmail or yahoo and so on. 2. It will never provide a link to register for beta or alpha there is 99% a code to enter in your profile. Also there will be a disclaimer and copy rights etc on the bottom of the email as a graphic , but thanks for the reminder!

Baulgere
04-10-2014, 01:36 PM
Added that email to filter to trash and notified guildies so we can see beyond the bad invites and wait for possible good ones :)

If I can figure out how they are generating their hash keys I'll gladly send you an email, it'll just cost you a social security number and credit card and bank pin.

Very unlikely. I suppose it is possible that the scammers obtained email information while listening into network traffic between archeage and you when you registered for your account. This would explain why the scammers have so many of your emails.

Thats quite normal as the popularity of the game, anyone can see what its possible in that game and think this will be awesome to play by players (us),so they trying to steal keys for maybe selling them, thats so lame, the world has come to such an extent.:(

Malwarebytes is very good at catching potential problems. Been using it for a couple years now.

Not sure if it was mentioned. However, this isn't the only scam going around. There has been a lot of phishing attempts through social media as well. If anyone claims to have a key for Arche Age they are up to no good. There are no keys. Your account has to be turned on individually by the publisher.

If it sounds to good to be true it usually is, stick to the main stream gaming sites and such for promotional items related to AA. Good to know that people are already phishing this especially for those of us who signed up beta access.
