Hi Guys!

I'm very interested in the tailoring and leatherworking skills. I'd like to create a character who has their own small-scale textile production farm (cotton, livestock) and then turns those textiles into clothes.

I have a couple of questions for those who have already played the game:

- From my understanding Tailoring creates "cloth" armor for magic users. Is there any melee that would use cloth?
- Leather armor is for melee and ranged characters, and has crit chance. Do magic users sometimes wear leather?
- Aside from Animals and Cotton are there other sources of fabric/textiles, like monsters?
- If I wanted to focus solely on tailoring would I still be a profitable character?

Thanks!

Leather is used in by meele classes, like combat+will+ finesse, for maximum damage output. Tailoring and leathrworking are especially good at 50k skill, opens up ability to craft costumes :) which give enormous boost.
You shouldnt bother urself, who and what gonna wear, there will be enough players to wear all kinds of armor, its well balanced. If you got purple+ quality item, ull always find a buyer.

You should consider taking gathering to support ur tailoring. Also profitable, and find a friend alchemist.

Yes my plan is to raise livestock and crops for the materials. I'd like to be as self-sufficient as possible but hopefully I'll make some friends and we can all profit together :)

and if u do leatherworking, consider planting rice, a lot of rice, asian style plantation of rice, it is 1 of the most profitable plants for easterners, it has multipurpose.
1. rice for trade packs
2. rice for alchemy (crafting 30-34 leather gear)
3. rare rice for alchemy (crafting 40-44 leather gear, damn expensive)
4. straw (10-20%chance) for livesthock
5. straw for gass for tractor
It is never enough of rise!

all mages should use the cloth armor because of the buff. and your other dps characters will use leather. tanks use the heavy armor.

What resources provide the materials for cloth?

A plant from gathering, cotton.
1 plant produces 8-10 cotton, takes 1LP to harvest.
It grows 2h in favourable climate, 2:52 in others.
8 cotton = 1 cloth, costs 3LP to process.

1 cotton bed = 10 seeds of cotton = u get ~100 cotton. It grows 8h and u get ~ 10 earthworms

Its not worth growing at starts, first u spend 10LP to process it into cotton bed, then you spend 25LP to harvest it, getting 100cotton.
So 35LP spent for 100cotton.
If plant single cotton, that produces average 9 cotton crops, getting 100 cotton plants will spend 100/9=11LP, instead of 35LP. Earthworms are overrated, 0,2silver coins for each. These type of seeds are worth growing when you want to level ur proffesion fast, and do it before going sleep, because long growth, but still I would do sunflower instead of cotton, uses 3LP, grows 4h or 5:42h, is used in 1st trade level pack, and 4th level trade pack in same location.

Do you mean Sunflower for Cloth production or just for leveling the profession?

Are there any flowers that are used in clothing production? Maybe as Dyes in Alchemy?

Sorry for all the questions but you're being very helpful and making the wait for beta more bearable! :)

sunflower for production, and cotton for cloth, the simple way.
what i ment by sunflower is that those bed seeds provide nice leveling for profession cause waste a lot of LP, but dont provide equal amount of resources for that, so instead I would use sunflowers to increase my profession in gathering, cause 1 click of harvesting wastes 3LP.

Cotton Bed will be more for people who don't like waste so much time planting and gathering. Plant single cotton seed is more efficient but take more time to plant/harvest and if your farm is in not safe zone it could be danger to stay too much time on the same place.

Gotcha, thanks for the feedback guys. I'm debating between cloth and leather but will probably do a small mix of both. I really want to raise animals so most likely leather :) and I want to play a class that can actually wear what I'm making.

You may obtain cloth only on ur scarecrow but lether u may drop from mobs. Don't think just do it :)

Main source of leather are cows, yatas. Big scarecrow can have up to 20 yatas. Killing all of them would give (46-48) 47*20=940 raw animal skin, yata growth in best climate is 24 hours.

Question, what is the best way to make leather armor?
