This video is showing the draw distance, set to maximum, but it's so near.

Here are some screenshots of mine as well showing the draw distance.

It's all set to maximum, but it is so close. How can I go about making it actually, you know, distant?

That is unfortunately normal in AA. Nothing to do with it. There have been attempts of increasing the foliage view distance but no results.

Only thing to do now, It seems like (from the blury textures on your screenshots) you forgot to set anisotropic filtering to 16x in your graphics drivers. Everyone should do that. It costs like no performance on modern hardware and it makes distant textures way less blury.

Damn, that is absolutely depressing... It removes so much from the game for me.. Oh well, I'll learn to live with it, or leave it I guess...

Yeah, for some reason it wouldn't let me choose any multisampling, but I got it now! ty ;)

I see the pros and cons in this though.

Pros: If you're much of a ganksta and/or love naval combat and you're confident about your skills / numbers and what not, your enemy may not notice you in time, therefore being able to successfully feed your thirst. And maybe destroying some galleons on the way.

Cons: Much to the opposite of the above, if you're scared of getting ganked / don't know what to expect when doing something dangerous, you might be hit with a big surprise and be more careful next time.

Many of us will benefit from the pro, and many of us will surely not benefit from it.

I believe that the draw distance is the life of the game as of any. You see the environment and the beauty it has and also you see enemy's, wildlife, and nature all at once. In all games it makes sense it let us see a distance because it makes us happy. The vivid world around us molds the game.

Now with that being said to the real point. Draw distance is a problem I see with in the game that can be dealt with but don't want to be dealt with. I'm a hardcore good person I don't like being a pirate, bad guy, and so fourth. Draw distance limits the game some due to the ability not to see other ships on the open water. Seeing a ship alters people's courses and makes them make U turns or straight angles to get to the other ship. This is part of the game just like it was in real life back in the oldie days. My personal opinion is draw distance on the open water should be increased to be able to see twice as far atleast to have more of an open world view over the water to see other ships to increase ship encounter frequency to make the naval part more interesting. Some ships have the sonar and so fourth and this is still an advantage of the ships. Distance won't matter a thing with sonar due to its massive range.

Summary- Increase draw distance on open water so ship encounters are more frequent. As a (good guy) anti pirate I like how other boats can't see me but truthfully it ruins the adventure of the naval experience by limiting the thrill of seeing another boat. I want to see other boats try to attack me and steal my goods it makes it exciting. Sea bugs, jelly fish, and other creatures should be seen a little sooner rather than when you are on top of them too.... How annoying they can be even when paying 100% attention they are near impossible to avoid.
