View Full Version : Price of 24x24? (For a Thatched Farmhouse)

Hello!

I am not curious about the price of the actual house, but only the plot for it. As you guys might have noticed, there aren't really much space left to build on!

I prefer to settle in a peaceful zone. - What do you guys think a 24x24 plot would cost in gold?

Unfortunately the variety of prices is as big as there are different locations of plots: 1. pvp/non-pvp; 2. Is it near a coast? 3. Is it near a Mirage Isle Portal (and all the traders and workbenches around)?; 4. Where is the location within the housing zone (surrounded by other buildings or has it at least a bit "privacy"?

So I cannot say, how the prices of those different locations are, but think about this: The more people are looking for them, the more expensive they are. I wouldn't give mine away for 1000Gold, cause I was lucky to get one of the first nearly solo slots in Two Crowns and was fast enough to build 2 large scarecrows next to it.

I know it'll be hard, but if you can enjoy this game for about 10 more days without a farmhouse, you'll get one cheaper and maybe with a bit of choice, cause that's the time, when the first construction places will be demolished by the system due to non-paid taxes.

The problem is that getting land from demolished sites will be even harder than the initial landrush. On other servers there's already stories of people using hacks to grab land and hordes of players camping spots. There is a real problem with farmhouses, I think. By the time people get them all the 'any housing' land is gone and there is only one dedicated thatched farmhouse area. I was so sick of carrying mine around and so relieved to actually find land available in Windscour Savannah last night that I plonked mine down, under influence of a few glasses of Sancerre it has to be said! It's the last place I expected to own land, but I do have a small house and garden in Villanelle and a large farm in Mahadevi, so I decided to just get my farmhouse built. It is near the waters edge and close to a specialist bench. If you're east side take a look, there's still plenty of land there.

If you've already bought a farmhouse it's not as if you'll get much for it as many people have spent guilda on them without realising there's nowhere to put them. They're going for about 40 gold already - less than one gold a guilda!

I totally agree with the hordes of players - especially in the first demolishing phase. The second one is, that disappointed people too often blame somebody of using a hack. I was blamed once by myself.
Maybe there are a few, who think they need such stuff as hacks or macros, but there are a few things, which can raise your chance to claim successfully exponential just by knowing the game mechanics:

1. Test claiming (small scarecrow eg). While you test, keep in mind, where exactly the confirm button appears!
2. You will have to confirm twice after placement!
3. Let the others think, they will make it. You can claim within a distance of 80 ingame metres. That's pretty much (and that's one point e.g., where inexperienced players suppose a hack)
4. You can confirm already to rotate, even, when the building is not yet demolished. So you dont have to rotate in a hurry, if you want it.

Good Luck ! And I guess, it will not be so hard as in Alpha, where all players NA & EU had only two servers ;)

Well I really enjoy the game, so i'll keep my eyes open... But for now I don't own a Thatched House, so there is still time before I am ready. The question sprung from curiousity seeing I rarely see any plots bigger than the small scarecrow farm standing free (if I ever see bigger).

On other servers some people (check the 'cyber' thread somewhere) are winning 9 out of 10 spots, sometimes from places where they couldn't even see the spot that opens. They're owning dozens now. That's clear scripting right there.

Well the thatched farmhouse areas is full of 16x16 FARMS and not thatched farmhouses. This needs to be fixed!

You're making the same 'mistake' I did and believing their tooltip. Those areas you're talking about are meant to be for farms, it's the tooltip that's incorrect apparently. Quite how difficult that is to fix I'm not sure but they've been aware of it a while it seems. The only dedicated farmhouse area east side is in solis and it's 'full'. Actually, it's half empty but the players claiming the land made sure mo one else could.

Good tip, I managed to put my Thatched Farmhouse down early this morning in the south of Windscour Savannah. I churned out bricks but there were already players around, so I didn't dare make the first Stone Pack to carry it over. I'll have to wait until the region goes into Peace. I'm also relieved to be able to place it, though it's far from ideal as a location. Especially because I'm only level 29 at the moment!

It's okay though, it's down, taxes are paid (I churned out a bunch of Tax Certificates earlier this week when I had Labor to spare), and I have time to level up and gather more materials. It'll be a long process, but that's okay, in the meantime I can save up fresh Gilda Stars for a Clipper. :)

Thanks again for the tip!

I bought a 24x24 farmhouse area that had a 16x16 scarecrow on top for 455g right near the snowlion quest npc in Falcorth. The mats where approximately another 300g. Considering that 2 hours of traderuns can give you about 50-70g, this is a serious investment, but not an extreme one.
