@To all NEW Players on Kraken - What is going on with the West? Explanation here.

    Dear new players,

There is a lot of confusion what is going on with the West. You have a bunch of people shouting and pointing at each other claiming they are pirates or this or that or the other thing. And you just got here. You really don't want to deal with this sort of thing. You came here for fun.

This thread will tell you why this is going on so you can make an informed decision who you will join. And also so you understand why these things are being said and done on West.

I am not going to name any players, because I think that is against TOS. However, I think it is OK to name Guilds. Try to keep this civil and above the belt. This thread is not here to slam, but to inform.

    ---------------------------

When Enla and Naima merged to form Kraken, with it came a guild called Latinus. Latinus would end up attacking and disrupting realm events by purpling on everyone. Similar to Latinus, there is a guild on the East called Friends. They too would purple on and disrupt realm events for whatever reason they saw fit. Neither of their respective realms (East and West) was happy with these guilds. Eventually these 2 guilds formed a Player Nation (hereafter referred to as the player nation).

Now Latinus on West also had several guilds that had allied with it, however they would not admit allying to them. Yet whenever there was a fight, they supported Latinus, they purpled, etc. These are well known "traitor alt guilds". So called because they support and collaborate with the Player Nation:
    • Trikoria Initiave (used to be a good guild on Enla, but now is a traitor alt guild)
    • Snowdrifters (pretended to be allied with West but was lying the whole time, its leaders eventually left and joined PN)
    • Big Game Hunters (many member joined PN, haven't seen much guild activity in last few months)

NOTE: It is important to understand that there may be some who don't know, or due to language issues, don't yet understand they are part of a traitor alt guild, and that guild's history. This is not a call out to attack or harass people in these guilds. This is merely to inform, that if you see someone in that guild, they are potentially a PN alt.

There are 2 guilds which actively fight against the Player Nation. This is not an all-inclusive list, there are many guilds who also fight:
    • Ascension
    • Gank Bus

At realm events, you may see people get purpled on. It is because they are a Player Nation alt, or collaborator, or green pirate (Potato Inc is a green pirate guild, for example).

So when you see people in chat blaming the guilds that fight the player nation for purpling, they are trying to cause confusion and make it look like Pro West guilds are the enemy. These of course, are lies.

There are many guilds on the server that aren't too involved in the fight against the player nation and if you want to start by joining one of those guilds before jumping into the fight against the Player Nation (or becoming player nation, if that is your thing).

That's it, I tried to explain as well as I could without really saying anything untrue or confusing.
Hopefully this helps out new transfers to Kraken.

    And welcome!

Greetings and welcome, fresh transfers and players to Kraken!

While the recently-made post above appears to be trying to lay things out concisely, do remember that there's multiple sides to every coin!

For the example, the above is incredibly biased in their opinions and targeting of 'PN alt guilds' considering that there is, in fact, only one of them correctly listed as still 'active'.
    • Trikora Initative, used to have its guild leader and members within the Player Nation, however they have since transferred off-server, or receded back into the West, leaving no active mains from this guild within the PN, and thusly withdrawn their status within the independent nation as an ally or offshoot by any means. Despite this, they are occasionally harassed and discriminated against based on the decision that players who are mostly-no-longer-here, made.

    • BigGameHntrs, ...I don't even know where to start here. The core that made up this guild, have entirely transferred from the PN and off Kraken, even. I haven't even seen any members, yet the above post makes it sound like they're scrounging around when really, it's just an empty guild with perhaps a few friends, if even that. Certainly not capable of being under suspicion anymore.

    • Snowdrifters, is led by the active-PN-alt 'Gizmoderp'. Because of this, those underneath this tag remain continuously under fire - including being purpled on and removed/kicked from faction events - under the assumption of 'alt-spying', or 'preventing the PN from growing stronger'. However - as my own bias can confirm - only the guild leader is involved in activities that have directly correlated to Player-Nation presence.

Regarding the two other guilds, Ascension and Gank Bus, they do take initiative in trying to actively contest the Player Nation, but these guilds are not 100% committed to the task of fighting off the player nation. Rather, from the combined might of both guild are a presence of around 10-15 that consistently show up to events like evening world bosses (DGS, Kraken, Meina/Glenn, etc.), with frequent 'nights off' as well. At-worst, these guilds can be described as 'passive-aggressive' and at best, 'casual'. The majority of the members within both guilds are friendly and/or quiet, with only an outspoken few. However, these few are the ones who take it upon themselves to police the Western faction to the best of their ideals and abilities. This may be limited to merely 'faction/nation chat pvp', or actual fighting out in the world, depending on the individual.

Kraken is, and always has been, a land of cliques and high-school level drama. Friends and families always will choose each other over others.

The Player Nation is no exception to this - While too-often regarded as 'bullies', it's really only a select and small group of individuals who demonstrate this sort of behavior. For the most part, the nation is made of many, many smaller inter-linked families/friends who know each other, which is why sometimes 5 PN members show up when conflict occurs, or other times 20+: It's mostly about showing support for one-another.

This same philosophy can be applied to nearly every guild on this server: Thusly 'zerg' is a common insult thrown around on this server, though some have twisted it around to praise for 'look at all the friends I have'. As a result, the mentality stays, as mentioned, in a high-school-esque level despite our extraordinarily-diverse age-range.

As far as current-day drama goes, it's generally limited to a "who you know" basis as it's bottom-line. Much of the bitterness between the West, and Player-Nation extends to the core/leaders of both parties and their histories. While I too have my own opinions formed, this information is best-acquired from the sources which, from the West's perspectives, would be Robert (leader of Ascension) and Creativeness (leader of Latinus). Please listen fairly to them both before making your own calls! Regarding the East, the best bet to poke within the Player Nation would be either Various, or Phanuphanu, (the leaders of FRIENDS).

Good luck out there, regardless of whose side you end up on. Do remember that it's a game, and this is an MMO - Your best bet of having fun here on Kraken, is making friends and staying cautious.

PI is the guild of alts that have no main.

If your goal is to ally with everyone that could potentially give you PVP, join player nation.

If you want a mix of PVP and Potato then try to join Ascension/GB

If you just want to kill everything that is not in raid, come pirate.

If you are east, just give up already like the rest of the faction. Although I did see Pulse/Straponbunny at luscas the other day so there is hope.

What is 'fighting off the player nation'? Off what? The only thing GB is committed to is having fun and PvPing whenever we can. We play for our enjoyment and PN is simply a type of content. When you are a small guild with limited people to pull from, you are much more impacted by folks not being available, so this will make us inconsistent, tough ****.

Event after event PN comes to stomp the pugs. They have more gear, full potted, and bring enough folks where its not even a fight, its just a stomping and then nui camping. Not for fun or practice, but simply to deny those people their content. Considering that most people join the player nation because they want to free farm content without effort, this kind of play is to be expected, but I am honestly puzzled why anyone thinks its then a good idea to invite the alts of these same people, that treat you like ****, into west raids. Why are we even having to explain why we are purpling? Why are random folks going on like its the end of the world?
