Thread: Dead server is dead.

  1. #21
Servers die when the playerbase leaves.
Most of the time this is contributed to a single group free farming the server and excluding everyone else from content. Any players that want to participate must make the choice of fighting said group or joining the group. If joining isn't an option for some reason, and fighting for content is an impossible battle, people will leave.
    Stop the freefarm;
    Fite me 1v1. >:v

I do agree with you that the player base is dwindling, but it's not because of the game (mostly). It's the players with the improper mentality.
This morning there was an argument in chat and basically the person was going on and on about how well geared they were and anyone less geared was insignificant. I even was told that "I did not matter due to my low gear score" and got that "Who am I?"

This type of behavior IS what makes people leave or keeps new folks from joining or staying very long. It's not the P2W aspect, since most games have some. It's the utter arrogance of someone continually shoving it in everyone else's faces and no one telling them to cut it out.

If a person wants amazing gear, I think that's great. If they want to be an outstanding person who PvE's, thats commendable. If they want to be a farmer and tend to trees and their garden or move packs - it's all good and it takes all of us to make the game what it is.

But don't put someone down and insult them because they don't want to invest in top of the line gear - or belittle them because of how they want to spend their time. Same with Pirates, if someone wants to be a pirate > go for it. Be the best you can be.

The line should be when you feel as if you are some how better than others and treat them like dirt. << that's not okay and this attitude drives players away.

Since I started alot of people been saying "dead server" over and over, usually when they want to pvp and no-one is available (at 3 in the morning), also seen older players bash newbies telling them to "Git gud son". At the same time I have encountered awesome people that will roflstomp you then tell you what you did wrong as they take your pack (and yes I appreciated the tips) - he even brought it back n told me to never let it happen again and escorted me to the gold trader. I've seen people zerg pvp, and do Wb like they are grinding regular mobs and im in East which is smaller. Point is the place is active, and there are good people - and those not so goodies but we work with what we got and if we foster a community, then we wilget to enjoy all the game has to offer....so see you westies at luscas on Saturday ( at the midday raid) - as soon as someone show me where that is >_<

It's not the pay2win aspects. It's the design of the game. It's made in such a way that the strongest players will always come together and dominate, effectively ending the game. Money just speeds up that process, but if it wasn't money then it'd be the players who spent the most time grinding. If being the strongest didn't allow players to so thoroughly and completely wreck the gameplay experiences of others to the point where they don't want to log in anymore, then this wouldn't be an issue. Though I doubt this set up is a mistake, because I've notice subscription games don't set themselves up to die, but a lot of cash shop game do and then they create "Fresh Starts" so people can spend tons of money doing it all over again, which is why you'll never see a non-pay2win server.

I dont think its dead to be honest. I do my trades, the auctions,I tend to my farm, I find some pvp on conflict regions, I do some dungeons( with a bit of effort). Risky trade are too safe in my honest opinion( used to the danger found last time I played it- back in 2014), and there's alot of chat on faction/nation/trade chat( harani side). For those who plays only for Mass and Instanced PvP and only plays the other aspects of the game to get fast as possible to level cap(abyssal level and now ascendance levels) to spend labor in the most profitable way only to pay the patron status and his ultimate nodachi/greatclub/staff weapon it may be getting to the botton. The new patch may renew things, higher grade gear got harder and lower grade got easier which makes the gap between the new and the old smaller and more competitive. In other hand it will shoot the p2w player in another level as their gap will be real compared to the "common" folk. The p2w will always be an issue as it opens gaps that cant be closed anytime soon for fully pvp focused players as in the end wins who got more money running in ( with multiple patron accounts or selling apex).

    1. Put toxic people on ignore.

    2. Everyone just got gifted a 4k GS. Patch 3.5 seems to have made lower tier stuff easier to get and higher tier stuff harder. All good for getting people on a more even playing field.

    3. Yeah AA is P2W. Shell out some cash, make rich friends or understand that you're going to get routinely stomped.

    4. Calibrate your expectations for what you want to get out of the game based on what kind of cash and time you're willing to invest.
    Deal with it.

I don't mind p2w games but they kill their populations. Fresh start was fun for about two months.. Then everybody left. It would be nice to have a server with 0 Apex, or cash to gold items. Just one. Not because I care about swipers, but because it'd be nice to play with people. Vengeance has about 250-500 active players maybe? That's pretty sad.

What's even more sad is the three top guilds had to avoid forming a nation together as planned just so there would still be PvP on the server. The player base has to make their own content. What kind of game does that to it's base?

    New mmo's to play?
It's not the P2W that kills archeage.

It's that everyone is selfish nowadays. MMOs used to foster working together... they no longer do that, so there's no longer a point in playing anymore once you have accomplished your personal goals.

Example, Morty and I just made our Erenor weapons... we feel like we no longer have a goal in the game, and are considering leaving. It's bad for us since we have real jobs that necessitate that we not join the nation or another aggressive end game guild because we would be kicked within days for not alarm clocking for kraken or something stupid like that that spawns at an awful time for us. (not to mention that the trash talk is getting to ridiculous levels and we don't want to play with 16 year old immature children, especially zfz.)

There is simply nothing to do in AA once you have made your gear, the same as every other current MMO.

Now I have to take exception to your comment about it being wrong that the players create their own content... older MMOs have thrived on that. AA's problem is that it has far too much themepark content it is trying to mix with a sandbox universe. If you are on, you are doing some sort of repetitive event like CR/GR/MM/etc, and if you aren't doing it, you are missing out on valuable resources. There are too many repetitive events, and they end up taking away from the random PVP that we enjoy so much.
