Faction unbalance is in dire need to be addressed.

    Enough said.

I don't care about the other things that people claim are killing the game, this is the one thing that will be the actual demise of ArcheAge. The game is simply not fun at all when the two main factions on a server are unbalanced 2:1 in PvP, in numbers and/or gear (as is currently the case on Thunderwing and many others). It doesn't take a doctorate in game design to see why that is the case.

I'm tired of seeing Trion leaving server transfers completely unmonitored and unrestricted, as well as not putting any race restrictions in place. I know you can do it, you did it within the first year after launch. That's part of your job.

Don't make me think that you guys are out of touch with your own community, please.

It is not possible to balance it in EU/NA at all, because of ALTS.

Trion have overall data about playerbase. They have data about how many in TOTAL players in each faction. But they cannot (or will not) delete from those numbers alts. So at the end, we have situation where faction balance is pretty much 1:1, but, for example, haranyans have 70% alts, nuians have 30% alts. Here we go. In any pvp activity, where you need REAL PPL you will have disadvantage of haranya side. But in trion eyes of allmighty data it will look like its completely fine

Simple fix would be alot of work to put in coding the game. Make both faction joinable by any races, much like pirate faction or PN. We are in 2018, time to end the race discrimination!!! I would gladly go Haranian with my elf if I could...

Even if you could somehow identify the alts and balance around them, not everyone want to pvp, many are happy just farming, crafting and/or doing pve(but with all the nerf to crafting and pve, it's less and less fun as time goes by, all they have in mind is pvp) so whatever you do, there's always gonna be an imbalance of players.

The biggest issue with player factions is all the strong players go there(and you have to be strong by design or you can't survive without safe zones) and immediately dominate the server unless an equally strong opposite player faction is also in place.
Kyrios was fun for a couple weeks when we had 2 opposite player factions, but one faction transferred off the server, like they do and you know what happens after that.

    What if:

    1. factions can only be made on the basis of an opposing faction waiting in a faction-queue to be made as well
    2. factions have to be equal in mean gearscore and number of players

Something folks should have thought of before throwing their support behind one of the player factions...

Not sure what you mean, each nation was allied to one of the player nation before they transferred off so both nation threw their support each at one of the player nation so we kind of had balance for a few weeks.

But in that scenario, you have the strong carrying the weak so it's not that great for the strong.

They can still find it. They have IPs of those players.
One IP = one player in general unless there are multiple players in a house.(which is a rare situation)
The most developed character which is accessed from that IP is the main character of that player.
All they need to do is to have a database of main characters of every individual player with their nations. Of course 100% true estimation is not possible due to exceptions but that data will probably be true about 97-99% which is enough.
That would help Trion to do comparisons and limit transfers on demand.

They could use avg gear score.

If they wanted to be thorough, they would periodically check out major events for unbalanced sides.

Honestly it won't matter what metric you try to use to balance the factions. None of them will work and the factions will always be unbalanced due to a singular fact:

The only way to balance a faction is if you FORCE everyone to pvp, and that just won't happen. You can try and minimize the imbalance but in the end only the players themselves can truly level the playing field.
