    Producer's Letter

    So.. the letter pretty much summed up what the streams have been discussing.. So if you missed the streams, the letter is a good precursor..

    What I did not see is where is the future of Archeage headed? Usually a Producer's Letter would include a road map of things to come, and since there was mention in the letter of Trion 'working more closely with the XLGAMES design team than we ever have' shouldn't that mean you also are privy to the future as well?

    This letter I regret to say is just a copy and paste of what we already know, with nothing to get excited about.. Hiram, more grind for armor and weapons, it is good that there is a pathway to gear that doesn't require heavy card swiping or VERY long hours of grind.. Malediction skills to fix what was abandoned.. Pack trading changes, we all know why. These are all based on course corrections, and nothing that is breathing life into the game.

    Where are the new dungeons? Where are the new events? Where are the new storylines? When is anything new coming into the game that doesn't involve a fix for something that is broken? There are multiple teams at XL that work on different parts of the game, surely there is someone planning on new additions..

    I'm sure that XL has been/is/will be doing the best they can.

    What this 'best' encompasses though is another matter entirely.

    The future of AA isn't mentioned in the letter because XL has no great future plans for the game. The direction they have been heading down is to revamp an old system, and then shortly after do a revamp of the revamp. For example, we just got a new gemming system this year, and it will be abandoned pretty soon. The world bosses we have killed for 4 years got a minor buff, but no major changes. The minor world bosses were simply moved around the map, and now have some adds that spawn with them. Hiram mobs will now spawn in a new area, and drop a new version of an old item.

    The truth is there has been no real new content added to the game, just revamps. When is the last world boss that was added....TWT? What was the last dungeon....Mistsong? Its about time XL actually developed REAL new content. Why don't we get a new dungeon and a new world boss every major update? Why haven't 4 year old bosses like Kraken and Red Dragon been completely redone, or even removed for new bosses. I mean look at the next update with library. Its literally going to be killing the same floor bosses that have been there for years. That was a great opportunity to bring some new lore, characters, and mechanics into the game, but instead we just get the same old stuff delivered in different sequence/format.

    Its pretty simple. People want new content, not new ways to grind old content.

    New gems with new lunarite. Easier and cheaper to make but at first they will be slightly worse than our current gems. When the next tier gets released they will be better. Our gems will have cost a ton more and be at a dead end forcing us to regem to have the best. This will likely all take place less than a year from the time our current gem system was released, which is pretty unacceptable.

    Well we pretty much never get any advance info on what is to come down the line before Korea gets it in their patch notes, and even then its usually a couple of weeks at least before Trion is ready to talk about it and if/how would these changes and updates come into our version. Its always been this way. Best way to know ahead of time of what to expect is to check omnom.io or korean AA website (even with google translate you should get some info from it)

    I'm confident Trion has access to the content plans for 2019, if they would write an encouraging letter about what Legacy players can expect to see in late 2019 or 2020, I think that will satisfy a lot of curiosity and boost player retention.

    Imagine constantly improving your gear but outside of 5 second PvP engagements there is nothing that challenges epic+ armor buffed players with legendary/mythic Erenor weapons. XL has a huge opportunity to capitalize on the lore and create unique dungeons that are open world in which you must utilize mounts and gliders just to navigate to the boss. Compare the quality of the two main continents then look at the newer zones that have been added, you can see a clear difference in quality and it's SAD!
