I work IT and probably a dozen times a year I work with teams doing migrations/replacements/upgrades to server farms. Granted I do not know exactly the number of servers involved or what type of server migration software they are using but in very very general terms the SOP for server migrations is;
1. Full Backup
2. Validate backup
3. Copy to a new server
4. Validate new server
5. Final Checks
6. Internal testing
7. Connect to live
Honestly, I am not surprised this is taking them this long. The migrations I have taken part of have taken place over 24-160 hrs and larger ones are done in stages over months or years. My guess is they are not even doing the work themselves. They probably do what most companies do and hire a consulting firm.

Exactly and probabily these weekly maintennance delays are the reason for this migration (they are changing their provider).
