    New Players: Land Rush Tips and Info

    This is a work in progress- pictures, edits, and more notes are coming!

    Land Rush is currently scheduled for October, 19th
    Time: TBA

    Welcome to Archeage and the vast and sometimes terrifying community of land lovers!
    Lots of questions about land are popping up these days, and for good reason!
    Open world housing is part of what makes Archeage awesome, but it also comes with its own set of complications and frustrations.

    Land in AA is a valuable, finite resource. People will absolutely lie, cheat, and steal to get it.
    Some of them are already planning on it.
    Don’t engage in “property swaps” or “sale by demo” unless you actually know the person.
    And, no, your new guildies don’t count as people you know! In the first few months especially, many guilds will unknowingly take on at least one scammer waiting to snipe land or empty a “guild” or “family” chest.

    To claim land at land rush you need:
    Farm/House Design(s)
    Tax Certificates for Deposits
    Space to Place it
    *Building Materials
    *Labor

    Farm/House Design(s)
    There are still things we don’t and probably won’t know before launch, like-
    How many gilda stars does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

    Here’s what we think we do know-
    Even with limited play, you should be able to get, bare minimum:
    2x Quest farms- 1- 8x8 and 1- 16x16
    2x 16x16 house design (15 gilda each)

    Many people will try to collect the necessary materials to upgrade the 8x8 farm to a 16x16 farm (Improved Scarecrow Farm in the folio), essentially giving each person 4-16x16 “designs” to start. This is a calculated choice based on personal preference/strategy.

    Note- If, fingers crossed, you manage to lay these out in a square, you will have effectively reserved a 32x32 spot (enough space for a 28x28 tree or other large house or a 24x24 thatched farmhouse). But this is where things get tricky, so please see below about tax certificates and unbuilt properties. ps- DON’T be in a hurry to switch out your reserved space. It is always a risk to move land or switch out designs and there will likely be rampant land sniping early on.
    More on gilda grinding and larger designs later/below.

    Tax Certificates for Deposits-
    Tax Certificates are required (in your inventory) as a deposit for every design you want to place. Your weekly tax amount on each property AND YOUR DEPOSIT TO PLACE will increase for every design you place above 2!!

    **UPDATE NOTE, Oct 11**
    The Level 30 Bluesalt Quest (Halcyona section) awards 15 tax certificates and the 8x8 farm.
    The Level 50 Bluesalt Quest (Ocean Trade section) awards 50 tax certificates and your 16x16 farm

    Afaik Deposits:
    8x8 = 15
    16x16 = 30
    24x24 = 45

    In order to craft more tax certificates, you will require one fully constructed farm/building and large amounts of labor. The scarecrow/nameplate on the fully constructed property will give you the option to craft 5 tax certificates per 300 labor.
    How you use those initial “quest certs” matters both because of the labor required to craft certs and the 2 unbuilt per person limit. This is where personal strategy/approach to the land rush begins to play a large part.

    Space to Place it-
    For new players, your best chances for a getting a few plots of your own are-
    Ahnimar- West
    Rokhala Mountains- East **Note- there is no road to Rokhala! Take the airship from Watermist in Rookborne

    These “new-ish” zones are always at peace and they were specifically designed to help ease the land shortage. They are gigantic compared to the original launch zones and most of the land is available for housing/farms. The in-game map shows the general area where housing is permitted in each zone, but it’s very general. Some might say downright misleading in some cases.

    Areas that permit housing are marked by a perimeter of “invisible” wooden posts that only appear when you “open” a house or farm design. You must place your house/farm inside the wooden posts. (more on placing land below)

    Rokhala Mountains- Unchained PTS2

    We don’t know if players will be able to “open” a house/farm design prior to the land rush or if it will work like free accounts on the current legacy servers (cannot open a house design so cannot see the posts) until the unlock, so…
    If land is important to your gameplay, you are strongly encouraged to scout the exact location of the housing areas in the zones you like. There are large areas of open land in AA that are NOT available for housing, especially in the original launch zones. You can use the Legacy or PTS servers to see where houses are currently placed. You don’t want to be standing in an empty field on the other side of the map when the time comes.

    *Land in conflict/war zones will be the last to go, but there are special considerations for living in these zones so they’re probably not the best, first choice for new players.
    **Note- If Gamigo follows the same protocol as recent Legacy merges, conflict zones will be at peace during the land rush.

    Land Rush Choices
    How many plots you can place during land rush will depend on the following:
    • Gilda
    • Building Materials
    • Labor for Tax Certificates
    • Proximity to workbenches
    • Available space
    Archeage Unchained will require you to make thoughtful choices about how and when you use your currencies (gilda, gold, vocation, diligence coins etc.). Don’t buy your designs early. Wait until you get close to land rush when you can make a more informed decision about your approach/strat based on your actual resources, and then buy your designs accordingly.

    We don’t know for sure about gilda and the archepass, so we really don’t know how many gilda the average player can expect to earn before the land rush. We do have a decent guess about how many can be earned through the personal story quest line, some of the common low level achievements, and some of the daily gilda quests.

    As things now stand-
    300 gilda before the rush is unlikely for most, if not all, players
    200 might be doable
    30-100 is definitely doable

    Afaik Design Prices:
    16x16 = 15 gilda
    24x24 House = 200 Gilda
    24x24 Thatched Farmhouse = 300 gilda
    28x28 House = 500-800 Gilda
    44x44 Mansion = 1,000-3,000 Gilda

    Things to hoard, farm, craft BEFORE the rush:
    Logs/Lumber
    • Raw Stone/Stone Brick
    • Iron Ore/Iron Ingots
    • Hides/Leather (a few of these are required to upgrade your 8x8 to a 16x16)
    • Wool/Cloth (a few of these are required to upgrade your 8x8 to a 16x16)
    • Gilda
    • Gold
    • Diligence
    • Vocation

    Placing your farm/house-

    Once you have your land rush kit in your inventory, drag your designs onto your skill bar in whatever position works best for you. Key/click your design and hover over the area you want to claim. You will immediately see an outline of the building or farm you are trying to place.
    If the outline is RED, you cannot place your design, usually for one of these reasons-
    • You are overlapping another property or the edge of the zone (wooden posts).
    • You are not in a designated housing area (I am out side the wooden posts in this image.)
    • You found a “dead” spot. (There’s one in Lacton, Solzreed Housing Zone over near the fishing pond)
    • You are on a slope

    If the outline is gray, HOORAY! That spot is available to be claimed!

    Key/click to bring up the instructions for rotating the building/scarecrow.

    Rotate as desired and key/click again to open the build window.

    If you have everything you need, click BUILD! (if you don’t have all your mats, this window will tell you what is missing).
    You will see a post and tape construction site or a headless scarecrow, and new mail will pop up when you are successful.
    *Happy Dance*
    You are now the proud owner of that spot, and the tax man is knocking *pop*!

    ***Note- When land unlocks, hundreds of people in every zone will be spamming that build button. There will be lag. So try not to panic if seems like an eternity before “anything happens”.

    About Gilda-
    A cautionary tale-
    At the original launch of Archeage, Gilda was very difficult to obtain outside the personal story quest line, much more so than it will be for Unchained. It maintained a steady value of 3-4g per on the high pop servers. So people cried and wailed and tore their hair, and ultimately more and more Gilda crept into the game until every couple had matching 44x44 Mansions, and Upgraded Thatched Plantations for mass production tookover whole sections in the larger zones.
    When you are hating the grind, please remember the Tale of Gilda…

    Getting Gilda-
    Levels 1-30
    Personal Story Quest Line- Green !
    Nui Quests- Yellow !
    Level-Based Achievements- Open the Achievements Panel to see what these are
    Misc. Achievements- Other things, like Exploration Achievements (Play with the children in Lacton or ride between the Yata barns in Tigerspine!), will pop up from time to time as you play the game, giving you a few extra Gilda here and there.
    The Achievements panel is a great place to look for possible sources of Gilda and you can “bookmark” a few to work on so you don’t have search the lists each time. Exploration Achievements are hidden and do not appear in the lists until you complete them!

    Levels 30-50+
    Kino’s Guide
    Personal Story Quest Line- Green !
    Daily Quests- Purple !
    Level-Based Achievements- Open the Achievements Panel to see what these are
    Misc. Achievements- Other things, like Exploration Achievements (Play with the children in Lacton or ride between the Yata Barns on your way through Tigerspine!), will pop up from time to time as you play the game, giving you a few extra Gilda here and there.

    *** Note- We still don’t know what the gilda values from the Archepass will be, but Archeage doesn’t generally award Gilda in chunks. This means that the pile of Gilda you collect while leveling to 50 is likely to be the biggest chunk you will see for some time. Have a look at the things you want that cost gilda and spend with caution.

    ps- The Double Jumbo Dumbo Snack Bar has moved --- >

    Thank you for putting this together! I've learned a lot already. Do we know when the "land unlock" will happen? Is it a different date/time than the release on the 15th?

    let's hope we will have a "smooth" release and minor login issues..else, 5 days will not be enough.

    Your placement tax costs are slightly off. It is the security deposit (Twice the rate) and one week of taxes.

    8x8 = 15
    16x16 = 30
    24x24 = 45

    Edit: I suppose your deposit prices are correct, but I think you should note the additional tax certificates required to actually place them.
