That's where you get the quest starter but you also need to complete all main quests in EHM before it drops.

Neither of us have had luck starting the quest, either. We've progressed the story line into the Garden and have killed the mammoth many times, but no quest drop. Must be very rare.
If you have done all green questline in whm+ehm, then it should just drop from mammoth yea, and it shouldn't be too rare.
Unless changed in a patch recently, it drops about 30-50%.
Anyone know the exact name of the drop item or able to link to it?

Killing the Millennium Mammoth has a chance to drop the Glowing Ore .
Right-clicking it starts the quest A Mysterious Ore.
You must have finished the quest A path to the Garden in order to trigger the drop and I heard people say that you also must have activated the ancestral level (which should be a given when you reach that quest).
I guess the drop rate of the ore should be somewhere around 15% - 25% (based on what people told me about the times they had to kill the mammoth).
