Items are protected for 24 hours, after that items placed become open to anyone.
(This does not count as stealing as well! So plunder away!)

The list of what you can put on these areas is very limiting as well

Press P for your public info! When you enter the map where the public farm is, press M, then check and uncheck the scarecrow (4th box down), easy way to find it if you are not sure!

Harvesting quests!

Head to the Blue Salt Brotherhood guys, when your harvesting skills are around 500 or 1000 (not 100% on the minimum skill for the quests to pop up). Each one you have enough skill in will then offer you a quest chain.

Gathering
Farming
Husbandry
Mining
Logging

The first 5 quests reward you with gloves, boots, legs, chest, and a helm slot (full 5 piece set = +550 skill to said Proficiency) As a bonus for the Husbandry line, along with your helm slot, you get a Black Saberfur Battlecat (shown below)!!


After the helm quest, you will get the final one, which then rewards you with a title - Farm Hand (for farming), Ranch Hand (for Husbandry), Forager (for Gathering), Prospector (for Mining), and Tree Trimmer (for Logging). Each title (when worn) adds +100 skill to the said Proficiency.

If you wear the full set + title, that adds +650 skill to the Proficiency, which is really really nice!

Around 50,000 skill (confirmed), another quest will open up from the Blue Salt Brotherhood - rewards a title, it adds 1,000 skill, and +10 in a stat. Husbandry one which is - Squats with Spurs On [name] - that one adds +10 STR as well.
Gathering one which is - Foremost Forager [name] - that one adds +10 AGI as well.
Farming one which is - Keep Calm and Farm On [name] - that one adds +10 STR as well.
Mining one which is - Pickaxe Percussionist [name] - unsure on stats...
Logging one which is - Can Count to Tree [name] - that one adds +10 STA as well.

This pet gives you a 1 minute buff, that makes your trade pack movement speed +%30, you can then pop onto your Donkey mount, and get some major speed on! (This battle pet comes with no other abilities)

In the same menu on the bottom right corner which you can check for public farm timers, you can also check for trade pack %'s... just so you can figure out if a trade pack is worth running or not.

I made a clip of how a Western player can grab a snowlion mount from Falcorn Plains without having to run through many zones. You can take the worldgate at Sanddeep and once in the Basin you are a few hops and a glider ride away. It took me about 7 minutes and seems faster than most other recommended paths.

Guide to getting Thunderstruck Trees!!

A lot of people are unsure as to what these trees look like. Very helpful to know this, cause these can be found in the wild as well !!!!!

The 2 trees with the highest rate of getting thunderstruck, Pine, and then Cedar. Thunderstruck trees only occur during phase 2 and phase 3 of a trees life... Once your tree is mature, the chance to get a thundertrsuck is over, you need to chop down, and replant. I do NOT recommend you do this in the wild, seeing as the chance to get your trees to thunderstruck is so random, you would have to watch your forest full time, once they are in phase 2 and 3. After a tree is struck, it is harvest-able, and anyone can get it, unless you just happen to be there, and no one runs across your forest...

One question about the nurseries, Most of the trees take longer than 24h so do they protect for longer than the other public farms?

24 hours, public placed items become fair game, just make sure you plant seeds that are under the time limit.

That pretty much sucks for the nurseries. I mean if they let you put fruiting trees in there but you can't possibly collect fruit from them because of the time restriction. It seems very set up so that the pay2win folks will always have lots of free players to steal good from in the open world but the free players are free to deal with the few scraps that they get on the public farms.

It is pretty nice, if you are F2P, you can safely get all your grapes for the trade pack runs (used in a quest as well)
