    You bring up a good point, until all calculations are done server side, botting will always be present. As of now the cost of having calculations run on the server is too high for the profit margins required to run a sustained mmo.

    Well, hacking will never be solved. Botting is pretty simple. Look for non human patterns and eliminate, add bias to get rid of as many false positives as you can. You don't need to edit memory to run a macro.

    It's mostly the huge cost of re-engineering bothe client and server software. Clearly XL Games didn't have the expertise to do it safely in the first place so the cost will include finding and hiring the right engineers.

    I personally think XL considers their game "for buying and selling". Once they've licensed it multiple times what motivation do they have for an expensive re-engineering effort?
