    Awakening Crafted Gear

I asked these questions last night in Nation and got conflicting responses before the posters admitted they really didn't know and were speculating. So I'm going to ask here in hopes someone has a definitive answer or experience with the matter.

First, I'm assuming awakening crafted gear (for instance, going from Ayanad to Erenor) will preserve tempering, lunastones and lunagems. I know they vanished in the old system when you recloaked, but this new system is different. Can anyone confirm that these are preserved in crafted gear?

Second, if the above is true and I awaken an item with 5 socketed gems and the awakened item only has four slots (due to the lower grade), what happens to that 5th socketed gem?

Thanks in advance for helping out, I appreciate it.

I experimented with this myself. I added a gem, a stone, and a temper to an Ayanad piece and awakened it to Erenor. All items were preserved. So if you were curious about this, I can confirm that.

I still do not know what would happen to an extra gem if the number of slots were reduced due to awakening (the grade drops significantly, Ayanad goes from Divine to Arcane, for instance). I have a Divine Ayanad belt that has four gems and an awakened Erenor only has three slots at Arcane. I'll update once I get the materials to experiment again.

The Extra gems are transferred over just fine. How ever if you say have a belt at mythic so it has 5 gems and you awaken it and it goes to epic that has 4 slots and you remove the 5th gem from the epic belt you will only have 4 slots on the belt. So gem before upgrading if you are going to lose gem slots temporarily and that matters to you
